Upper Mustang jeep drive route
Upper mustang drive tour embarks from scenic Pokhara city with enjoying breathtaking Mountain View of Annapurna range. The drive towards with passing ending and starting point of Annapurna trek like Nayapul, Kade Bhanjyang and Dhampus Phedi then drive continues and finally arrive, Beni, where Mohare danda trek begins. After Galeshwor the drive lingers on dust smoky and sneaky road along the Kali Gandaki River with passing natural hot spring and deepest gorge in the earth. Upon arrive Lete village the valley opened up and starts to see high mountains around you above the wild windy valley. From here drive continuing different landscapes and terrain also see mountain culture of Thakali and Mustang Gurung. Daily itinerary
Day 01: Pokhara - Hot spring - Kalopani (2,560 m) & 110 Km

After delicious breakfast at your hotel in Pokhara, the four-wheel jeep drive begins to the lost Buddhist kingdom beyond the Himalayas. The drive continues on the Kali Gandaki corridor with dense populated town Beni, Kusma also visiting the tallest suspension bridge of Nepal "Gyadi Bridge". From here drive follows upstream Kali Gandaki valley with an exceptional view of waterfall and Annapurna mountain range as well as see gloriously unset on Mount Dhaulagiri. Kalopani village the traditional Thakali village squashed between Annapurna massif and Dhaulagiri
Day 02: Kalopani - Marpha - Kagbeni - Chusang - Ghami (3,540 m) & 80 Km

The morning mesmerize you with a marvelous mountain view of Annapurna mountain range, Nilgiri and Dhaulagiri massif from your room then after breakfast drive begins from the lodge. The drive proceeds along the meandering windy Kali Gandaki valley and passes the green apple farm of Marpha, Tukche, and Tangbe. Upon an arrival Kagbeni, we check our Upper Mustang Trekking Permits and then officially entering restrict the area and enjoy to see eroded landscapes at Chhusang valley. The en route is covered by ancient caves where the warriors used to hide from the enemies during the war. Also see the white, red and grey painted Chorten which is indicated as Sakya sect Buddhism. The drive above the valley on lost Buddhist kingdom and crossing several passes Taklam La (3624 m), Dajori La (3735 m), Yamdo La (3860 m), Nyi La (4010 m) which offers panoramic mountain view of Thorong peak, Nilgiri, Tilicho peak, etc.Also visiting Chungsi cave and Gilling monastery.
Day 03: Ghami - Dhakmar - Tsarang - Ghar Gompa - Lomanthang (3,850 m) & 50 km

After breakfast brief drive to see outstanding Dhakmar red cliff and the several colorful Chhorten on foot of the unique red cliff. A drive continues over the pass which offers a wide view of arid landscapes with walled mountains where the adventure route of Nar Phu valley trek route Tiri la pass trail is marked. The off-road drive continues to Ghar Gompa, the oldest monasteries of Upper mustang believed to be built in the 8th century, here you will see a huge statue of Maitreya the future Buddha also see the Himalayas above the high plateau. Now we explore Tsarang village where can walk along the magical alley and visit Tsarang palace and monasteries both nunnery and monks. A drive further-up on a dusty road with a marvelous view of the Himalayas, Sungda Chhorten and a magnificent view of the walled city of Lomanthang from Lo La (3950 m) pass.
Day 04: Explore around Lomanthang and Kora la pass (4,660 m)

Namgyal Monastery
Beautiful Buddhist temple a few hundred meters above Lomanthang village, the monastery has two sections main temple and hostel where around 100 young monks are practicing Buddhism. A monastery is located on the hill and from here enjoy to see a marvelous view of the landscapes and the mountains.
Thinggar and Kamaling village
The drive continues further up to Kamaling and Thinggar village, the villages have traditional Tibetan flavor cultural also visit the nunnery monastery end of Thinggar village.
Kora La Pass (4655 m)
Since the last few years, Kora la pass being highlights of Upper Mustang trek and tour, the border is 42 km to and fro Lomanthang. Kora la pass is the salt trade route between Tibet and Nepal. On way to Kora la pass, you will have panoramic Mountain View including Annapurna mountain range and Nilgiri above the plateau. There are fence and pillar which marked as an international border also the Chinese government built the costume office behind the fence on Chinese land.
Shija Jhong Cave in Chhoser
The 5-storey human-made cave has several rooms believed to be used in ancient times for the living. The cave offers a marvelous view of Chhoser village and the arid plateau of Mustang. Each floor is connected by the wooden leader and has windows. It is a bit hard to climb up on the leader but as you reached top floors it offers amazing scenery of the surrounding.
Nyphu Gumba
The red and marron walled painted combined Buddhist monastery and monks retreat cave in Chhoser village. The colorful Buddhist sites is around 700 years old.
Day 05: Lomanthang - Luri Gompa - Muktinath (3,750 m) & 120 km

After breakfast drive begins on the grubby off-road then from Tsarang village we continue along the Kali Gandaki River with enjoying exceptional eroded landscapes view of the canyon then passing Dhigaun, Yara Gaun and then from Ghara village around 45-minute walking to Luri Gompa. We have to trek to Luri Gompa on a narrow grit trail with steeply climbing. Luri Gompa has several rooms with an amazing painting on the wall of the Tashi Kabum room. From here drive retrace on Kali Gandaki corridor from Kagbeni village short drive to Muktinath temple. Muktinath is relatively busier because lot trekkers walking down from Thorong la pass.
Day 06: Muktinath Temple - Dumba Lake - Tatopani (1,190 m) & 90 Km

Early morning short warm-up hike to Muktinath temple and enjoy with discovering sacred sites. After breakfast on the large mountain plateau and along the Kali Gandaki river with capturing picturesque sceneries o mountains and landscapes. Then also visiting traditional Thakali village and apple orchid in Marpha. The drive ends up at Tatopani village on the bank of Kali Gandaki River, after room check-in short side trip to natural hot spring also possible to dip in with paying entrance fees.
Muktinath Temple
Muktinath temple has great value for both Hindu and Buddhist people in Nepal. The sacred Muktinath complex is around a miles away from the main human settlement and can be reached by walking and horse and bike ride. Muktinath temple gate open 07: am in the morning then closed-down at 07:00 pm, can visit any time in between but still recommend in the morning. Travelers will explore 108 water tap, holy pond, natural burning gas, few monasteries, Lord Vishnu temple, Buddha statue, Padmasambhava viewpoint also possible to admire surrounding landscapes and the finest view of Mount Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri Himal.
Dhumba Lake
The dramatically fresh watery lake situated 2730 m above the sea level on foot of Nilgiri Himal. The turquoise lake can be reached by private drive and bike ride via Thinigaun as well as an hour's hike from Jomsom throughout apple orchid and pine shrubs. Each traveler needs to pay a certain amount as an entrance fee of the lake, you will also see a breathless mountain view of Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Tukche peak and Tilicho Peak. Various mountain birds come around the lake and also see fish here.
Day: 07 Tatopani - Gyandi bridge - Pokhara (850 m)

After delicious breakfast at the lodge, we begin our drive and it goes into the large gorge of the boulder where often see the thundering waterfall. Then we stop to walk over the tallest suspension bridge of Nepal above the Kali Gandaki River in Kusma which called Gyandi Bridge. Then resume drive to Pokhara, upon arrival Pokhara room check-in then explore the lakeside city and walking a shore of Phewa lake.
