Phoksundo Lake Trek

Our airport representative will be waiting for you, the arrival gate of the Tribhuvan international with your name on the signboard. Then transfer to your hotel, it about 20-30 minutes' drive to your hotel. After room check-in then have leisure time.

After collecting all trekking documents/permits follow our flight scheduled to Nepalgunj about an hour flight. Nepalgunj is a commercial city and discovers a mixed culture. Also can travel to the border of Nepal and India.

After breakfast, we drive to the domestic airport as per flight scheduled then our journey commences to the mountain flight. Half hour flight offers close-up aerial Mountain View and diverse landscapes. Upon arrival, Dolpo airport begins the hike with ascending on the agriculture farm and villages. Then, we follow trail south bank of the Thulo Bheri with passing through several mountain villages and meeting Nepalese faces. We have a pretty short hike to the camp and spending night at Dunai village, Dunai is headquartered of the Dolpa district where has a hospital, school, administration, and police station. After room check-in one of the guesthouse and lunch cultural excursion at Dunai Bazar.

After breakfast at the lodge, trek set-off with descending on the direction of Sulighat. A short downhill trek let us cross the suspension bridge over the confluence river of Thulo Bheri and Suligat Khola. From here a trek continuous along the north bank of the Suligat Khola. We also checking Shey Phoksundo national park permits at Sulighat village then gradually climbing on a rugged trail. During the autumn season, a trail is filling by a hemp plant also possible to collect the bean/fruit for the pickle. We keep ascending above the valley into the forest of rhododendron, magnolia, and bamboo. Beyond Kageni village starts to view flapping Tibetan Buddhist flags against the wind as well as Tibetan word scripted mani wall and series of stone cairns. Endlessly climbing-up on the grassy pasture and the grit trail to Chhepka village.

Our trek onward to Phoksundo Lake Direction with huge switch-back climbing on the grassy meadow as well as winter settlement of Ringmo villager. After breakfast at Jharana hotel, set-off from the lodge then follow a short uphill path to the ridge that provides the best view of the Suligad waterfall, it looks the milk pouring on the mountains. From the edge gently walking down along the birch tree line on the west bank of the Phoksundo River. After few hours hiking on alpine forest reaching a human settlement, first crossing national park check-point that guard by Nepal army and then get into the Ringmogaon which laying south side of the turquoise Shey Phoksundo Lake. The number of basic accommodation is available here, must of them are home-stay or house-cum-lodge tea house. Possible sights yak caravan here that carrying the load here and there. The people here practice the Bon-Po region which is older than Tibetan Buddhism. The devotees and villagers constructed numerous beautiful Buddhist stupa with white and red paint.

Ringmo village has Tibetan flavor, the houses are different than Dunai that built with stone, big plank, and soil and it has an open roof. An extra day at Ringmogaon, allow us to discover the hidden beauty of the Lower Dolpo. There is an option roaming around the Phoksundo lake or ascend to the Shey Phoksundo Lake viewpoint. A beautiful Bon-Po monastery, Tshowa laying onshore of the large Phoksundo Lake which believed to be 900 years old. After breakfast short walk to Juphal airport, from here we fly to Nepalgunj on southern Nepal. A 30-minute flight offers a magnificent view of the mountain and meandering Thulo Bheri River. We might need to hold while for Kathmandu flight. Then boarding for an hour Kathmandu flight, upon arrive Kathmandu airport transferring to your hotel. In the evening hosting authentic Nepalese dinner at the traditional restaurant and enjoy the live event of Nepalese dance.
