Daily itinerary

In the morning departure from your hotel, first 5/6 hours' drive to Besisahar on good paved road, a nearest commercial city from Manang. Also, make a lunch break and then drive continues along the Marshyandi River. Further up drive continuous on the bumpy road also dusty as well. Duration of a drive is approximately 4 hours to Koto village. This scenic valley is part of Annapurna circuit trek where can see trekkers are hiking up to Thorong La pass (5416 m). The thrilling drive offers an amazing view of a thundering waterfall, formation of rock in the valley and lovely local village with tall mountains.

End of Koto village has the beautiful and traditional stone gate that epitomize as an entrance of Naar and Phu village. Nar Phu trek route continuous along the Nar Khola throughout the lush and green forest of multiple vegetation. The path often passes huge cliffs where the trekking trail is carved and gentle climbing up till the lunch spot Chhomchu. Often cross the bridge on Nar Khola then also passes numerous stunning waterfall on the narrow gorge. After lunch, a path rapidly climbing up via Dharamsala to Meta village, the first village of the valley. Picturesque Phugoan set on foot of mountains and couple of side trek are available around to Phugaon. For the easy day should roaming around Phu village and Tashi Lhakhang monastery, oldest gomba which carried long history also can witness to watch the daily ceremony in the morning. But for the better acclimatization should climb a few hundred meters above the place, you sleep. Once you climb nearby ridge called Ngoru viewpoint, you will get one of the best views of old Phu village with the close sights of Mount Himlung and Ratna Chuli. For the tough day trek, another option is available to hike Himlung base camp. It let you trek on a wild glacier and possible to see blue sheep.

The trek retracing on a downhill to Jhunam village with crossing couple of the bridge including monsoon washed wooden and steel bridge. Trekking from Naar Phedi [Gomba] to Naar village is the shortest hike in Nar Phu trek, the trail up to village is steeply up on the ridge with passes white and red painted stupas. The blue sheep come close by trekking route because afraid of snow leopard. Arriving Naargaon in an afternoon then after lunch walking across the traditional mountain village. The village has charming culture also making cloth from knitting of yak and sheep wool.

Awaited day during Nar Phu trekking and crossing over Kang La Pass, highest altitude en route of the journey. The walk starts early in the morning from a lodge, one-third of a trail is gentle climbing up on pasture also possible to see yak and blue sheep grazing. Leaving from Ngawal village with following sharply descend trail to Riverside then upon cross the bridge on glacier river arrived Humde village. From here 6 hours' drive to Besisahar on a bumpy road, on way capture view of villages, waterfall, gorge, and the Himalayas.

Kathmandu is only 5/6 hours' driver, still better to leave an early as possible because might stock on traffic at Nagdhunga, an entrance of Kathmandu. We arrange your breakfast in a convenient time then departure to Kathmandu. The drive offers countryside of Nepal and a panoramic view of Langtang and Ganesh Himal before arriving at your hotel in Kathmandu.

Extend the trek

Our customized Nar Phu valley trek complete in 10-days fro and to Kathmandu, also allow having one extra day for acclimatization against the high altitude before towards Kang-La pass. After Kang La pass, the trek can be extended as your interest like side trek to Tilicho Lake, Thorong La pass, Upper Mustang trek, Mesokanta Pass, and Manaslu Circuit Trek.

Nar Phu Valley Trek Difficulties

Nar Phu valley trek classified as moderate to strenuous mountain trek, there are limited villages on the route, all the nigh camp are fixed on the villages. The trekkers have to complete A to B walk from morning to evening, the distance cover 12-15 km with a steep ascent in alpine terrain. From Nar Village trailhead to Kang-la pass (5315 m) with abruptly climb and then steeply descend to Ngawal village on grit trail. Nar Phu trek is recommended for good physical level trekkers with previous high altitude trekking experienced.

Accommodation in Nar Phu Trekking

We can organize both camping and tea house style trek to Nar Phu valley. After the 2012 basic tea house is available most of the places also possible to halt at Monasteries for the night. The neat and clean tea house is available en route of Annapurna Circuit trek before and after the Nar Phu Valley. After Koto most of the villages have twin sharing rooms with a joint toilet, hardly find the attaches room. A hot shower is available at an extra cost where the hot water serves on the bucket with a mug.

Most of the local restaurant and the lodge has a menu card with a list of food items. Your guide will recommend hygienic and organic goods from the list. You will find Mexican, Chinese, Nepalese and Indian foods on the Nar Phu trek also possible to find bakeries and luxurious drinks in some places.

Nar Phu Trek Permit Cost

As Nar Phu trek route kept in the restricted trekking area in Nepal have to buy two different trekking permits for the Nar Phu valley trek. The Annapurna conservation area has flat fees throughout the year cost Rs-3000. Nar Phu trek special permits have different fees in spring and autumn. Autumn from September to November cost U$D90 per person and then from December to August cost U$D75 weekly. After a week it cost U$D10 a day.
