Mardi Himal trek, A short Annapurna trek walking thru diverse landscapes, pristine forest, and enjoying with magnificent mountain view. Mardi Himal trek easy mountain trek that marked in Annapurna conservation area. The newly explored Mardi Himal trek offers a panoramic mountain view of Manaslu, Annapurna, and Dhaulagiri. Also, experience authentic Gurung culture throughout the journey. 6-days Mardi Himal base camp trek route expands through Astam Danda, Dhampus village, Badal Danda, Mardi Himal base camp, and Siding village. A less touristic Mardi Himal trek is sweet for novice and experienced trekkers. Mardi Himal trek can be joint with ABC trek, Khopra ridge trek, and Ghandruk Poon hill trek. The typical Nepalese guesthouse is available throughout the route. The trekkers can choose the food items from the local community and ACAP approved food menu.
We organize Mardi Himal trek from Kathmandu and Pokhara. The journey beings from Pokhara with a drive to Astam Danda Village. The hike starts with a wider mountain view above the rice terrace of the Mardi River. The gentle climbing trail passes cultivate landscape and picturesque Dhampus village. And then the trek continues into the pristine forest where the altitude rapidly gain. As reach, a higher altitude getting closer to the Himalayas. A side trek to Mardi Himal High camp viewpoint provides an exceptional view of the mountains and the landscapes on the deep valley. After summited 4500 m altitude viewpoint steep descend to the large siding village. The large organic tea garden makes entire the valley beautiful. We then trek to Ghalel Village and drive back to Pokhara.
We primarily organize the Mardi Himal trek from Pokhara and end-up Pokhara. From Pokhara private drive to Astam Danda and then hike begins. Then drive back to Pokhara from Siding or Ghalel village. For the short time frame travelers, we take an early flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara then drive to Astam Danda. Your physical walk end at Siding or Ghalel village then exit from the Annapurna conservation area and drive back to Pokhara.
Getting and an exit Pokhara
Pokhara is another beautiful city in Nepal and it offers various touristic activities. There are several ways to get Pokhara from Kathmandu.
Easiest, fastest, and luxurious option
Different airlines are operating regular flights from Kathmandu to Pokhara from 08:00 am to 04:00 pm. A 25-minute flight is an easiest and fastest way to reach Pokhara and costs U$D110 P.P for one way. The flight provides a good view of the Kathmandu valley and the mountain vista.
Tourist Bus:
A tourist bus is another option to reach Pokhara and it is roughly 8 hours’ drive on a mountain road. Two types of tourist buses are in option and standard tourist buses cost US$8 and luxurious tourist buses cost US$12 each head. The bus departure 07:00 am from Khusibu road, a walkable distance from Thamel. Private drive:
Private Drive
The private drive is comfortable than the tourist bus and also takes a shorter time than public transport. The 4 seated cars cost US$100, 7 seated jeep cost US$150 and the 12 seated van cost US$180. The private vehicle stops willing places for the photos, drinks, and bathroom. The food/meals in Mardi Himal Trek
The Mardi Himal trek is a teahouse-style trek where the trekkers can eat meals in the lodges and guesthouse. You are allowed to choose the meals from the menu.
Breakfast: Any style eggs, bread (Pancake, toast, chapatti), Muesli, Oat porridge,
Lunch and Dinner: Hot soup, Dal Bhat (steam rice, lentil soup, mixed curry, green vegetable, hot pickle, Papadam, and gravy chicken), Macaroni, Spaghetti, Mo Mo, Pizza, Noodles, fried rice, etc. Dessert: Fresh Fruit (Apple, orange, pomegranates, Banana with any seasonal fruit) and biscuits serve as a sweet dessert. Any drinks soft, hot and hard are not included in the trip cost.
Daily itinerary
Day 01: Pokhara - Astam Danda - Dhampus Village - Pothana - Pritam Deurali (2120 m)

After eating a hygienic breakfast at your hotel, short drive to Astam Danda. The trek starts through traditional stone villages with gentle climbing up. The hike provides an exceptional view of the landscapes and Annapurna mountain range. The different tribal Brahman, Chhetri, Gurung, and Magar are the main habitats. The route contains a gentle climb up through the village and thick rhododendron forest to Pritam Deurali. At lunch break whitling around Dhampus village and culture excursion.
Day 02: Pritam Deurali - Forest camp - Lower Camp (2,920 m)

The subdivision trail takes into the dense forest of oak, maple, hemlock, and rhododendron. We often spot the red panda in bamboo shrubs and also see the woodpecker making a hole in the trees. Around 3/4 hours rambling thru the lush and green forest brings us to lunch places. The path contains mild climbing up then remaining trail strenuous climb to the lower camp.
Day 03: Lower Camp - Badal Danda - High Camp (3,540 m)

From the morning follow nonstop steady uphill into the lovely forest to Badal Danda which lateral means cloudy ridge. We left the treeline behind and walked in an open ridge and walking in the alpine zone. This ope trail offers a magnificent view of cultivated landscapes and mountain ranges. We also pass seasonal animal graze of the sheep and buffalo. We also see the Annapurna base camp trek route below on the gorge and the famous Ghandruk village. Mardi Himal high camp, itself viewpoint, watching burning sunset over the Annapurna I and south.
Day 04: Side trek to Mardi Himal Upper Viewpoint (4,520 m )

Awaited day on the Mardi Himal trek, we do side trek to Mardi Himal viewpoint also called Upper viewpoint. We eat early breakfast then set off with water and energy bar to the viewpoint. It is around 5/6 hours day trek including a steep climb up on a narrow grit path and steeply descends. As we are on the trans-Himalayas range, the route passes dwarf rhododendron and mountain herbs shrubs. Also possible to ramble on snow from December to April. Aside trek to Mardi Himal base camp provides best Mountain View of Annapurna south, Hiuchuli, and Annapurna I, Gangapurna, Machhapuchhare, Annapurna II, Annapurna III, and the diverse landscapes. After reaching the Mardi Himal Viewpoint returned to High Camp.
Day 05: High Camp - Badal Danda - Lower Camp -Siding Village (1,750 m )

The trek retraces from High Camp to Lower Camp via Badal Danda. The route from High camp to Siding village is descending through shrubby, dense forest and the cluster stone villages. From lower camp follow branch downhill trail, a path strolling on steep down. Explore organic tea garden near Siding village above Mardi River. Siding village is a traditional Gurung village and surrounded by a tea and coffee farm on foot of mount Fishtail.
Day 06: Siding Village - Kalimati - Ghalel - Pokhara (850 m)

It is around a 3-4 hours trek to Ghalel village where can catch the private jeep to go Pokhara. The trail to Ghalel village is pretty easy through villages and tea gardens. Upon arrival Ghalel village then jump on the jeep. About 3 hours’ drive on the dusty and blacktop road bring us to Pokhara.
