Daily itinerary

Welcome at Kathmandu airport (1350 m), transfer to hotel Upon your arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuvan international airport receiving then transfer to your hotel for accommodation. Before official meeting with your trekking guide take your own time to settle and freshen up after a long journey. A meeting will be arranged either your hotel or Musical Adventure trekking office where your guide will give brief about Manaslu Circuit trekking and relevant curriculum also checking your trekking gear.

A full day Kathmandu valley sightseeing and permit arranging day A day to explore the Kathmandu valley, home of the Newari architecture and cultural theme of Buddhist and Hinduism. You will be showing major attraction of Kathmandu valley which also enlisted in the UNESCO world heritage sites. The Kathmandu day tour begins after breakfast at hotel then drive to Kathmandu durbar square also known Hanuman Dhoka, ancient royal palace with home of the living goddess "Kumar". Then visiting cultural blended temple, swayambhunath also located atop of Kathmandu valley where numerous chhorten are available. Then next destination discover largest Buddhist stupa with Buddhist flavor in Bouddha also known as little Tibet in Kathmandu where numerous of beautiful monasteries are available. Early morning leaving from Kathmandu by Kathmandu to Soti Khola route bus. Bus trip to Soti Khola contains both off-road and good pitch road. It is a complete scenic drive through the countryside, a rider will enjoy to see unmatched landscapes and high mountains on far distances. On arrival Soti Khola, aside of Buri gandaki river room check-in local lodge then roaming around the village and enjoy to see expanded the view of the steamy valley.

It is a fairly easy path to Dobhan village, a trail follows the reverse of Buri Gandaki river with passes traditional Nepalese villages namely Lapubesi, Khanigau, Machha Khola, Khorla Besi then arriving Dohban village. Slightly climbing up a few places in a sub-tropical climate where often see the picturesque view of rice terrace and a stunning waterfall. Probably stopping Machha Khola for the lunch then trail seem bit narrow should extra take-care if the train of mules passing nearby. A flatten trail continues aside of the wild Buri Gandaki River to Jagat (entrance point of Manaslu restricted area) where checking restricted permit. En the route, you will be enjoying to see waterfall and green landscapes with delightful local culture on bottom of a huge boulder. From here follow flatten trail to Philim village with crossing suspension bridge also have a glance of marvelous Gurung culture. The trail stretching into the pristine forest of rhododendron, pine and fire to Phewa village where only two lodges are available with basic facilities in midst of a jungle.

After breakfast set-off from lodge then walking into the forest to Deng village, where a Buddhist confluence culture and highland topography begins. Most of the places passing beautiful Chhorten, Gompa, Stupa and colorful Buddhist flag are fluttering in the blue sky. From Deng village brief descend to Buri Gandaki River, after walking over Suspension, rambling uphill thru Ranagaon, Bhi Phedi can get stunning cascade scenery end of Prok village, source of the waterfall is holy Kal Tal. Stopping for the lunch at old-style Ghap village after that trek resume into the dense forest of mixed vegetation also offer the grand view of Ganesh Himal and Siringi Himal. On way to Namrung forest, walking inside the profuse rhododendron forest also possible to encounter various birds including national bird of Nepal called Himalayan Monal. The onward trail often cross the wild river over monsoon washed wooden bridge before arriving Namrung village.

After checking your Manaslu trek permit at Namrung check-point and follow an easy path alongside traditional Banjam village and gentle uphill bring us Lhi village. A path continues on foot of the mountains throughout villages to Lho where can visit Rimbum monastery. Shyala village used to be summer settlement of Lho people but now became a touristic place where around a dozen nice lodge providing hospitality facilities to the trekkers. The village itself is vantage point thus see more than 10 mountains around you namely Mt Manaslu, Ngadi Chuli, Himalchuli, Kutang, Siringi Himal and several other mountains. Upon walk over the suspension bridge, a source of the river is Pungyen glacier then follows an uphill path on the bottom of a huge cliff. We advise you do some easy hike near to Samagaon, minimum 400/500 meter above your sleeping places. Samagaon acclimatization day can spend with day trek to Manaslu base camp. Alternative select half-day detour to Birendra Lake and Nubri Pema Decho Ling Monastery also can see huge glacier of Mount Manaslu.

A trail to Samdo village is gentle ascending up on the mountain shrubs, dwarf rhododendron, juniper and birch forest with an exceptional view of Mount Manaslu plus glacier. High chance to see blue sheep and Himalayan pheasant en route of Samdo village, the last village of Nubri valley and the local trading necessary things from China via Rui La Pass (5000 m). Awaited day in your Manaslu circuit trek, a distance cover approximately 23 km and around 8/9 hours hiking. A walk contains solid up and steeply descend on crumble and pebble trail. Today is last day of your Manaslu trek, the drive starts in the morning from Dharapani. It is scenic drive on bumpy road, it provides exhilarating waterfall sceneries on the canyon and rice field. From Besisahar drive to Kathmandu on paved road which takes around 5 hours. On arrival Kathmandu transfer to your hotel, then evening arrange farewell dinner at authentic Nepalese restaurant with live cultural show.

Syarang/Seran Gumba (4130 m)
Syarang/Seran Gompa, a traditional Buddhist monastery lying above the Buri Gandaki valley on the lap of Siringi Himal. Bhi villages are the nearest human residence with available accommodation unless done camping trek. Syarang Gomba, have great religious value for local where more than 3 dozen mountain kids are practicing Buddhism in the beautiful monastery. We do Sarang Gomba day trek from Bhi village. Kal Tal (Kalchhuman Lake)

Pungyen Gompa (3980 m) and glacier
Great place for side trip en route of Manaslu circuit trek. Beautiful green plateau on foot of Mount Manaslu, Hiuchuli and peak Dr. Harka Gurung. Pungyen gompa has a Buddhist temple and some compartment for monks. Also individual quarters for the monks' meditation and retreats. Pungyen Gompa, a huge yak pasture is surrounded by several high mountains. No accommodation facilities here but occasionally can accommodate with monks in a dormitory with simple meals like barley porridge "Champa" with butter/salt tea. Worth to spend overnight either in a tented camp or in monks hostel, can rent a tent from Shyala or Samagaon. The nearest human settlement of Pungyen Gompa is Shyala and Samagaon, a detour will be around 4/5 hours and the trail contains up and down. Day trek to Pungyen Gompa is pretty tranquil with short ascending on alpine terrain. Follow small branch route from near to suspension then can also see the footprint of yak and gentle climbing up on grit trail to the small summit then hike continued on the large grassy ground to the Pungyen Gompa with enjoying the surrounding Mountain and massive glacier view.

Manaslu Base Camp Trek (4450 m)
One of the fabulous day trek to Manaslu base camp (4800 m), it is a long and hard day trek with steeply climbing up in the thin air. It is a recommended day trip for acclimatization day which is preparation against Larkya La pass. Hiking with pack lunch and energy bar as well as drinking water because of no tea shop en route of Manaslu base camp. The trail starts in the moraine with following flatten path up to small stone hut then exposed on a steeply up on the sloppy hill above the huge valley with picturesque sights of Birendra lake. Birendra Tal (3640 m)
One of the beautiful Himalayan turquoise lakes, Manaslu glacier is the water source and exit to Buri Gandaki River. The huge Manaslu glacier is followed down from base camp and it comes all the way to the bottom of a large cliff and turns on the turquoise lake. The lake name is driven by our late King Birendra. The beautiful blue and green color Birendra Lake situated 60-min away from the lodge. It is one of the easiest physical exercise acclimatizations around Samagaon where the walk contains mostly flat thru alpine forest also possible to encounter the multiple birds. On way to hotel visit Tibetan cultural flavor Buddhist monastery, Nubri Pema Decho Ling then take a rest.

Rui La Pass (5000 m)

Rui La pass, border of Nepal and Tibet, the frontier is separatedd by fence and iron pole. Most probably there will be no security from both sides then walk further Tibet side. Rui La border is laying between two high Rocky Mountains and such a windy ridge where Tibetan prayer flags are blowing with the wind. Also, have some concrete pillar where both Chinese and Nepalese characters are written with some numbers. Rui la pass day hike is another side trek in Manaslu trek, the path is divided on two section, first part of path follow west bank of the river from Larkya Bazar with crossing wooden and iron bridge also passes yak graze area. Lajyung Bhanjyang/Samdo Ri/Pana Danda (5100 m)
Lajyung Danda is the highest point among three viewpoints and standing right above Samdo village in Manaslu trek. Lajyung Bhanjyang side trip can do from Samdo village, a trailhead steeply ascend on the pebble path and little grasses with breathtaking sceneries of the surrounding mountains including Rani Peak (6693 m), Ngadi Chuli (7871 m), Simnang Himal (6251 m), Naike Peak (6211 m ), Mount Manaslu (8163 m), Manaslu North (6991 m), Larya Peak (6249 m) with together wider Buri Gandaki valley and Tibet plateau. Accommodation and foods in Manaslu Trek

Since 2010, Manaslu trek transferred to tea house trek (Lodge to Lodge) where basic accommodation is available in both inside and outside toilet option in the room. The wooden room has two single bed with clean bed shit and shinning pillow cover. We do our best to accommodate you in best available guesthouse along Manaslu trek.

In regards to meals, can choose any foods from an open menu where various food items are listed like Chinese, Indian, Nepalese and Continentals with hot drinks. We are having lunch on the way around midday then dinner and breakfast in the same lodge where we sleeping.

Phone And Internet Connectivity In Manaslu Trek

Day by day the cell phone network is improving expressively in Manaslu and Tsum valley trekking region. Two phone company provides services (NCELL and NTC), NTC is more effective in the Manaslu trek. Mode of overland transport for Manaslu Trek

Manaslu trek is one of the hiking destination near from Kathmandu where travelers easily access by overland drive from Kathmandu and Pokhara with passing Dhading Besi or Gorkha Bazar. Can traverse to Soti Khola by private jeep, regular public bus also possible to have share jeep, If you lucky. Any transport will make a several break en route for toilet and lunch on way to Soti Khola. The road form Kathmandu/Pokhara to Gorkha Bazar or Dhading Besi is pretty good because of tarmac coated but the further drive to Soti Khola continued on bumpy and dusty road. Plus muddy during the September/November or after rain. It will be very interesting drive on zig-zag road with enjoying dramatically scenario of rugged mountains where the outlook changed rapidly. Whoever arrange your drive journey to Soti Khola, request them to reserve front side seat which expose better view than others.

Kathmandu to Soti Khola by Public bus
Daily public bus departure early morning from Machha Pokhari, near to Gangabu New bus park Kathmandu. The common bus leaving from 06:00 am to 08:00 am but nicer to take as early as possible. It is around 7/8 hours bus journey depends which route taking through, shortest drive journey by passing Dhading besi but have to transit vehicle Arughat or Arkhet for Soti Khola. The bus has around 32-35 seat but basically more passenger have a joyride also bus often stop to pick-up and drop-off the people. Since begins of bus ride to endpoint, the driver always play typical Nepalese and Hindi songs in laud, if you are lucky also English.

Kathmandu to Soti Khola by Private Jeep Or Share Jeep
Traveling by four-wheel jeep to Soti Khola, an obviously good choice because of smooth and hassle-free that makes journey contented. The jeep non-stop accesses to Soti Khola without swap which takes roughly 6 hours.

Dharapani to Beshisahar by Jeep

Manaslu Circuit Trek Permit Cost

Trekkers should obtain the Manaslu trek permit before leave from Kathmandu/Pokhara. The permit will be checking en route before entering the conservation area and restricted zone. Three different trekking permit is mandatory for Manaslu Larkya La pass trek which includes Annapurna Conservation Area (Rs-3000), Manaslu Conservation Area (Rs-3000) and Manaslu restricted area permit which cost U$D100 (September/October/November) then U$D75 (December/January/February/March/April/May/June/July/August).
