A guide Langtang valley Ganja la pass trek commences with a scenic day drive to Syapru Besi on the zig-zag Pasang Lhamu highway that provides marvelous sceneries of landscapes, mountains, and culture. We then climb along the Langtang Khola into the dense forest of bamboos, rhododendron, pine, and above the Langtang village mostly bursting with mountains herbs that utilize as a homemade medicine. Then strenuous ascent to the Tsergo Ri and Ama/Aama Chhumo Yangri viewpoint to admire the best mountain view also bold hike over the Ganja La pass. Plenty of basic accommodation is available inside private toilets in the village plus electricity for lights and charging electronic devices. Then 3 nights on the tented camp is completely wilderness experience in the isolated mountain. Where only heard nature sound, birds chirping, and animal barking. Then reaching to Helambu region where we get unchanged Hyolmo culture taste and a glimpse of the new mountains on the further eastern direction. From here trek continuous downhill ahead to Melamchi Khola at Timbu Bazar and then drive back to Kathmandu.

Daily itinerary

Langtang Valley Ganja la pass trek commence with a drive to Syabrubesi from Kathmandu. A 7 hours' drive let you have marvelous experience in the mountains. It is a scenic drive that passes beautiful countryside and let you enjoy with Himalayas, crops field and rustic villages. The buses stop along the Pasang Lhamu highway for the toilet and meals before entering the Langtang national park at Dhunche village. From here drive continues most scenic zig-zag road with magnificent view of down valley. You'll get close-up view of Annapurna mountain range, Manalsu and Ganesh Himal before reaching Syaprubesi on the bank of the Bhote Koshi River

The first day of the trek, our trailhead along the Langtang Khola through the immaculate tropical forest with crossing suspension bridges several time. Time to time passes local tea shop and stopping for the lunch at Bamboo on bank of the Langtang Khola on sandy gorge. High chance to spot different species of the birds and animals into the dense forest also get picturesque glance of the wild hive with bunches of the bees on the boulder. We follow gentle uphill path till Bamboo then steeply climbing to Rimche village after that 20-minute equal path to Lama Hotel. Upon arrival Lama Hotel around 900 m altitude gain in 6 hours trek and distance cover 12 Km

Our trek starts after delightful breakfast at Lama Hotel, again trekking a side of the glacier melted Langtang Khola and gorge as well as inside the pine, rhododendron and bamboo forest till Ghodatabela. the valley open beyond the Ghodatabela and mountain appears also often meeting yaks and spot Himalayan Monal. We also spot Khampas camp with piles of the stone where the Tibetan refugee resettlement project set many years back. Our trek continuous afar the forest and entering on alpine climate zone. Before the 2015 earthquake, there was a heavily human settlement between Thangsyap to Langtang village but after that, very few houses built here because most of the family were killed. The huge moraine covered before earthquake Langtang and now the Langtang village built outside of earthquake a few meters above the old Langtang. Most of the revival Langtang people moved to Kyanjin gompa because they found safe. We visit Langtang memorial where we can see the name list of the earthquake life lost people including travelers and locals. From Langtang village can see glorious sunset on the Himalaya further north of Kyangin/Kanjin Gompa. About 6 hours uphill trek that covers around 13 Km distance and 1000 m altitude gain.

Our trek carried with a gentle climb up through the large pasture and mountain herbs meadow then passing a beautiful mountain villages built with piles of the stone and wooden pillars as well as impressive wooden carved doors and windows. We trek a side of the long stone mani wall that has beautifully carved of Tibetan alphabet like Om Mane Padme Hum mantra that literally translates in English 'Praise to the Jewel in the Lotus'. Throughout the hike get a stunning view of the Himalayas and varied mountain landscapes also get an impressive view of the Tsergo Ri above the valley. Before reaching Kyanjin gompa passes newly established Hydropower and crosses the river to the lovely Kyangin village. Since a short day trek and arriving earlier at the camp, we have an option exploring around the Kyanjin Gompa like cheese factory, Buddhist monastery, short altitude acclimatization hike to Kimshung & Langtang Lirung glacier or if the weather is good half-day trek to Kyanjin Ri (Peak).
About 3-4 hours easy trek from Langtang village to Kyangin Gompa that covered 6 Km distance.

Spare-day at Kyanjin/Kyangin Gompa gives enough time to explore the snow leopard valley. We have a few options for a day trip around Kyanjin Gompa like relax or perspiring. Kyanjin/Kyangin Gompa offers spectacular ice faces sights of the Langtang Lirung above the Kyanjing Ri and Langshisa Kharka and Tsergo Ri on the north of Kyanjin Gompa. After breakfast a trailhead on the east of Kyanjing village with crossing the wooden bridge on the Langtang Khola. Our trek continuous on the huge grassy pasture also passes several tiny green color lakes where we commonly view the birds pecking the leafs. The Ganja la pass trail passes several seasonal animal graze pasture also exposes impressive Mountain View and Kyanjin Gompa village. We make our tented camp on the ground that provides a breathtaking view of the Langtang mountain range and glaciers with Langtang valley.

Today is dramatic and toughest hiking day during the Langtang valley Ganjala pass trek, from the morning, follow the uphill path till Ganja la pass (5,125 m). A trail often covered by heavy snow, especially during the spring season. We often need to use climbing rope while crossing the Ganja la pass summit because of laying on the rocky boulder and ice section. The Ganja la pass pinnacle provides breathtaking mountain panorama of the Langtang mountain range also get a spectacular view of Mount Shishapangma (8,027 m) and numerous of snow-clad mountains. After taken picture and have life experience time on the top trek downhill to Keldang. A downhill trail on the ice might be slippery that’s why it need extra attention. A kitchen crew will prepare the lunch on the good camp area then trek down to wilderness terrain for the tented camp.

We eat a hot and delicious breakfast in the tented camp then set-off the trek with descending on the rocky and grit path till the Yak Kharka. About 6 hours trek covered 10 Km distance, we often climb and descend on the mountains. On the way to Dukpa Kharka, it approaches some new mountains Dhorje Lakpa, Jugal himal, etc.

A trek begins from the Dukpu camp and our trail contains rocky downhill, and some climbing in the dense forest. About 5-6 hours off the beaten trek covered around 12 Km distance from beginning to ends. Hardly get any local people movement until Hyolmo Ama Chhumo Yangri viewpoint, completely no permanent human residence. An amazing mountain view can catch from the viewpoint. So Tarkeghyang is the large village of Hyolmo and Sherpa ethnic group, we can enjoy the stay here with experiencing amazing culture.

After breakfast leave from Tarkyaghyang village, our trail leads into the crops field and forest above the Melamchi River. We clearly see the tunnel of the Melamchi water project from our path. About 2-3 hours downhill trek bring us to Timbu Bazar on the bank of the Melamchi River. From Timb Bazar we drive to Kathmandu. The buses and jeep frequently leaving to Kathmandu. The last local route bus leaves 14:00 hours and it takes roughly 6-7 hours to get back Kathmandu. A drive starts on unpaved road along the river to zero kilometer where we joint with Kathmandu Lhasa highway then our drive continuous on the tar road via famous touristic town Dhulikhel and Bhaktapur. At the evening Musical adventure trekking arrange dinner at authentic Nepalese restaurant and enjoy the evening with watching Nepalese cultural show.
