It is complete homestay trek, trekkers spend most of your evening and morning with a host family with watching incredible culture and life-style. Basic need and clean accommodation are existing in all the campsite with sharing Asian squirt toilet. We conduct Indigenous people trail in the clockwise route which means cut-off huge climbing up from Lubu Bazar to Hiledevi. The drive starts from Ratna Park Kathmandu to Dhunge Bazar, it is 8/9 hours' scenic drive then trek begins from next morning. Following day's uphill trek to Thulo Sailung and then stopping Doramba and visiting Hindu temple in Khandevi and Buddhist monasteries in Rajveer and Sailung after that reach Nepalthok then drive back to Kathmandu.

Daily itinerary

Dhunge Bazar is around 200 km far from Kathmandu, the regular public buses leaving from Kathmandu also make your 6/7 hours' drive comfortable by private jeep to Dhunge Bazar. It is scenic drive from Kathmandu to Dhunge Bazar, the drive contains good coated road and dirt bumpy road with the breathtaking view of Langtang Himal, Gaurishanker and Numbur Himal. From Kathmandu, the bus drive on friendship highway which directly connects to Lhasa, capital of Tibet then from Khadichaur road diverts to Arniko highway till Mudhe. A dirt road starts from here also appear Himalayas range on the east side of your drive. The bus continues further-up to another village but we get down on Dhunge Bazar then after room check-in roaming around the villages and enjoy to see the long mountain range and deep valley of Tama Koshi.

After breakfast, the trek begins from Dhunge Bazar, today trek is quite steeply into the dense forest. Entire the thick forest is colorful from February to May because of the blossoming of multiple color rhododendron. Also passing few houses at Kalapani village where local people doing animal husbandry for living. As soon as walk-out from jungle reach huge meadow of grass with several small hills. This field is summer animal grazing for the locals during the winter fresh snow cover it. Khola kharks village is set the corner of this animal pasture where homestay accommodation is available. An evening gets stunning sunset view and the valley below the cloud.

In the morning doing side trek to Thulo Sailung viewpoint for sunrise view on the Himalayas. From Sailung vantage point get the breathtaking view, from east Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Everest, and Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I and Manalsu in the far distance. Then, close view of Langtang Himal, Dhorje Lakpa, Numbur Peak and sacred mountain Gaurishanker. Thulo Sailung viewpoint is decorated by a Buddhist flag where also have several old styles of Buddhist stupa. While walking back to lodge explore Gaurighat cave, Buddha's Gate, Godavari cave. During the full moon of July/August local celebrate annual shaman festival where more than hundred shaman participant from villages. After breakfast, we follow a downhill trail on cultivating farm, rhododendron forest, villages of Sherpa and Dalit also visit Buddhist monastery in Raj Veer and view of stunning waterfall before reaching Surkey. Surkey village is the residence of Newari people.

The trek starts as soon as finished delightful and organic mountain breakfast then walking downhill on the cultivated land, forest and villages. The walk towards Doramba villages offers magnificent scenery of potatoes terrace and also spot different types of birds. Doramba villages is a market junction of nearby villages also have high school and health post. Trailhead to Doramba passes Tinghare and Deurali village. Then evening watches traditional musical show of Tamang people also monks blessing ceremony. Here in Doramba your accommodation arranges in a homestay the infrastructure is comfortable than other villages.

After breakfast farewell from host family of Doramba, they basically goodbye with fresh garland and tika (red power mixed with water). Doramba is a large village, it takes around 45-minutes walking out the villages then trailhead over the hill. The route gently ascends to sacred Hindu temple Angleshwori. From this ridge get awe-inspiring mountain vista with diverse landscapes. Now short descend bottom of slate mine factory and into the pine forest to Galpa Bazaar, here stop for the lunch. The trek retrace through the beautiful villages and forest with short ascend up to Dongme. Few houses have homestay facilities and also visit the monastery.

Our trail leads up-hill to Hill Devi, Hill Devi itself is the viewpoint. From here follow a solid downhill trail on grit path. Upon your arrival, Labu Bazar makes a lunch break then little walk to Sun Koshi beach where can see the Majhi people doing fishing on the freshwater river. Also possible to do swimming and rafting in a local boat. The majhi people will welcome tourist with delightful hospitality the evening they will serve freshly cooked fish curry. I swore have eaten exclusive delicious fish curry in life. Your evening time passing with some authentic musical show of Majhi people. Where the performer smears mud over the body and covers their private area by the green leaf. Then, dancing on the rhythm of local music for a few hours.

After breakfast farewell from Majhi community then walk over the 2 long suspension bridge to Nepalthok. We catch the bus or jeep to Kathmandu. Kathmandu is 80 km far from here, it is around 4 hours smooth drive on coated bitumen road to Kathmandu Via Dhulikhel. A drive offers spectacular scenery of the landscapes, dotted villages on the hill and the mountain above it. On arrival Kathmandu transfer to your hotel and farewell dinner organize in the authentic Nepalese restaurant with live cultural show.

Indigenous people trail, less touristic trekking route north-east of Kathmandu. The route has been discovered a few years back and where only basic accommodation is available. Our route following Dhunge Bazaar-Thulo Sailung viewpoint-Khola Kharka-Surkey-Dorangba-Labughat and then drive back to Kathmandu. The traditional Nepalese kitchen not so far from the room and enjoy to see Nepalese food cooking.
