Indigenous people trail offers unparalleled nature sitting and elaborate mixed Nepalese culture. The breathtaking mountain panorama is seen from Thulo Sailung Viewpoint. Includes Mount Everest, Numbur, Mera peak, Gaurishanker, Annapurna range, Dhaulagiri, and Langtang Himal. Sailung, the 100 peaks is the highlight of the trek, and strolling in the longest yak pasture is a different trek experience in Nepal. Thulo Sailung summit has both Hindu temples and Buddhist monuments. Both devotees seldom celebrate the festival at Sailung like Shamanism.
Indigenous people's trail route stretches on tropical climate zone. Between the glacier river of Tama Koshi in the east and Sun Koshi on the west. It is a lower altitude trek but offers an exceptional view of the mountain vista from Thulo Sailung (3146 m). Thulo Sailung is the highest altitude in the Indigenous people trail. The Indigenous people trekking trail is a blend of charismatic culture and diverse landscapes. A trek is an idea for culture study where meeting with multiple ethnic groups.
Indigenous people trail traverse village to village and magnificent landscapes. And dense habitats of mixed tribal Tamang, Sherpa, Newar, Majhi who have charismatic cultures. Indigenous people trail is an easy mountain trek that displays lovely Nepalese culture and Himalayas. Less touristic indigenous people trail is homestay and lodge-based trek. En route basic accommodation is available with bucket hot shower and sharing bathroom. Throughout the journey serves fresh organic foods that are produced in their garden. At your request can watch the elaborate cultural show at Labhugaht, Doramba, and Khola Kharka.
The indigenous people trail itinerary can be customized from 3 to 7 days on your preference. We conduct Indigenous people trail in the clockwise route which means cut-off huge climbing up from Lubu Bazar to Hiledevi. We begin the trek from Kathmandu with a scenic drive to Dhunge Bazar. About 7-8 hours’ drive offers panoramic mountain vista of Langtang Himal and magnificent farming scenery. We then passing through the beautiful tribal village Thulo Sailung, Rajveer monastery, Khola Kharka, Surke, Doramba village, and Lubughat.

Daily itinerary

We are taking bus to Dunge Bazar, the journey offers extraodinary view of cultivate landscapes and mountains. From Kathmandu pleasant drive on black coated road till Mudhe then journey continous on bumpy and dust road. Dhunge is small comercial village and base camp of Thulo Sailung.

From Dhunge Bazar there is two route to get Khola kharka. The upper route taking via Thulo Sailung viewpoint. The lower road passes through the rhododendron forest to Khola Kharka. From February to May the rhododendron and magnolia are blossoming in this area. The upper route offers spectacular scenery of the mountain and the valley above Sunkoshi and Tamakoshi River.

We climb up to Thulo Sailung viewpoint to see the mountain range. The mountain range stretch from mount Everest in the east to Dhaulagiri in the west. Also visiting holiest sites like Gaurighat cave, Godavari cave, and Buddha's cave. The Sailung summit is the highest altitude in the trek. The ridge has both Buddhist and Hindu monuments. From the end of December to April snow cover mostly and from May to November animal grazing. The local community celebrates the annual shaman festival in Thulo Sailung.
We get down to Khola kharka, then after breakfast departure to Surkey village. Our trek route comprises the forest and potatoes farm. The hike offers a picturesque view of the dotted village and agriculture field. On way to visit the Buddhist monastery at Raj veer before reaching the Newari community hamlet in Surkey.

From Surkey trekking to Doramba village through the rhododendron forest and villages. On the journey see the local people are working in cultivated the field. The hike offers a good view of the mountains and valley. Our trailhead through Deurali pass, Tinghare, and Doramba pass to the destination. Doramba village is the largest village of the Tamang village. They are preserving their culture and also possible to witness it on request. The homestay system is practiced here where the guest will be distributed to a different houses.

After breakfast farewell from host family of Doramba, they basically goodbye with fresh garland and tika (red power mixed with water). Doramba is a large village, it takes around 45-minutes walking out the villages then trailhead over the hill. The route gently ascends to sacred Hindu temple Angleshwori. From this ridge get awe-inspiring mountain vista with diverse landscapes. Now short descend bottom of slate mine factory and into the pine forest to Galpa Bazaar, here stop for the lunch. The trek retrace through the beautiful villages and forest with short ascend up to Dongme. Few houses have homestay facilities and also visit the monastery.

Our trail leads up-hill to Hill Devi, Hill Devi itself is the viewpoint. From here follow a solid downhill trail on grit path. Upon your arrival, Labu Bazar makes a lunch break then little walk to Sun Koshi beach where can see the Majhi people doing fishing on the freshwater river. Also possible to do swimming and rafting in a local boat. The majhi people will welcome tourist with delightful hospitality the evening they will serve freshly cooked fish curry. I swore have eaten exclusive delicious fish curry in life. Your evening time passing with some authentic musical show of Majhi people. Where the performer smears mud over the body and covers their private area by the green leaf. Then, dancing on the rhythm of local music for a few hours.

We departure from Lubughat and walking on the bank of Sunkoshi River to Nepalthok. We view Majhi people are fishing on the river. From Nepalthok take a bus to Kathmandu on a bitumen road. A drive offers spectacular scenery of the landscapes, dotted villages on the hill, and mountains. On arrival in Kathmandu transfer to your hotel.

Home Stay Accommodation In Indigenous People Trail Trek

Indigenous people trail, less touristic trekking route north-east of Kathmandu. The route has been discovered a few years back and where only basic accommodation is available. Be honest it is home-stay lodging where the host family warmly welcomes the tourist with a genuine smile. The trekkers will halt overnight at different villages of culturally reach mountain people houses also possible to entertain by local in the evening with the ethnic musical at extra cost.
Our route following Dhunge Bazaar-Thulo Sailung viewpoint-Khola Kharka-Surkey-Dorangba-Labughat and then drive back to Kathmandu. Twin sharing descent rooms available most of the villages with share toilets, a toilet and bathroom is few yards far from the room. The traditional Nepalese kitchen not so far from the room and enjoy to see Nepalese food cooking. If you interest to learning Nepalese food cooking classes then definitely a great chance to learn how to cook Daal Bhat. Cold shower is available in the bathroom it might attaché with toilet, on request hot shower possible in additional cost. Electricity is connected in all the villages, charge your phone, camera at extra cost.
