A middle of the Annapurna conservation area is inhabited by a typical ethnic group called Gurung. The Gurung Heritage trekking trail leads to Gurung villages. Namely, the Ghalegaun village was a winner village of home-stay hospitality in 2007. Gurung heritage trail explores the Gurung music and Culture where guests will be entertained by a cultural show like Ghantu, Sorathi, Krishna Charitra, Thado Bhaka etc. Gurung people have a unique lifestyle with their typical culture. Ghalegaun people are the honey hunters in Nepal, collecting wild honey from deep jungle twice in a year. Gurung Heritage trekking trail is simple and non-strenuous through the native Gurung villages at the foot of the Annapurna Himalaya range spreading to the center of Annapurna region. The trek can be done according to a trekker"s holiday period of stay from 4days to 12days.
The trek starts from Kathmandu/Pokhara, through the gentle hill of Annapurna Conservation region, ending at Pokhara.  Along the way the view is very scenic right to Beshisahar/Khudi, a get way of the Annapurna circuit trek and Manang valley. The trekking trail leads through rice plantation, into the cluster of the Gurung villages and breathless view of Annapurna Himalayan range. This trek is suitable for any age category and especially for the travelers who are interested in the Nepali culture and hospitality of the Gurungs. On arriving in the village, trekkers are welcomed with a garland by the locals wearing their colorful costumes with the rhythm of traditional music and dance and will reside with a host family for the most memorable Nepal home-stay. The rooms are clean with clean squat toilets. The food consumed is mostly organic (homegrown).
The head lady of the house called Aama meaning Mother does cooking. Trekkers get to see the kitchen work of the village life. Nepalese cuisine consists of Rice, Lentil soup, Spinach, Potatoes, Gundruk Achar (Dry spinach Pickle) and special welcome nettle soup. They also have flour paste made of millet, barley, corn. After dinner with your home family, you will be entertained by local music in a community hall which is organized by the Mother group. There will be a village walk around to see and greet other families around, not forgetting memorable pictures to be clicked. The trek ends in Thumsiko, then a drive on back to Kathmandu/Pokhara.

Daily itinerary

On the way to Besisahar journey, you will be mesmerized with the spectacular view of the countryside. Upon leaving dense populated Kathmandu valley, panoramic mountain range appears on your right sides with green landscapes hills. A drive offers a striking view of Langtang Himal, Ganesh Himal also some of the mountain pinnacles of Manaslu region also can see adventurous people enjoying white water rafting on Trishuli River.
From Mugling, a drive continues along Marshyandi River, the river begins from Thorong la pass (5416 m) and Tilicho Lake (4970 m), a drive pass few hydropower and rice terrace to Besisahar. Besisahar is an entrance of Annapurna circuit trek also have ACAP region office for a permit.
Possible to go Khudi village but very minor accommodation available Khudi due to the trekking route cut-off by drive now a day's very less and poor accommodation available. That’s we spend the night at Besisahar after room checking short side trek on a bank of Marshyandi river where can see people fishing on a river.

After breakfast begins a journey, an hours bumpy drive throughout the rice field with viewing wild river bring us Khudi village. A hike starts upon getting down from bus/jeep, we follow an uphill trail on the mixed vegetation and agriculture farm also see animals are grazing and people working on grain field. As the path getting higher and reaching Simpani village, a typical Gurung village, the valley looks huge and wider on the bottom of giant mountains namely Dr. Harka Gurung and Hiuchuli Himal. A trail beyond Shimpani village is inside the forest where possible to spot wildlife. We also pass beautiful deity temple on the middle of the path where the hiker respect by the wildflower in the temple to wish for their successful onward journey. On arrival Ghalegaun village, a guest is welcomed by mother group in authentically way with dancing in local attire. After that visitor will distribute visitors to the different local house.

A day begins with sights superb sunrise on Annapurna mountain range and steamy Marshyandi valley. After breakfast, farewell organize by villager then 2 hours trek on the ridge with admiring the splendorous view of the greeneries on a base of the mountains. Ghan Pokhara is another village of Ghale clan in Gurung tribe, a dissolute village where very less tourist visit. During the lunch period relish seeing village then trek on the downhill on the forest to Bhujung village, one of the large villages with consist around 800 households in single village. Here, you will sleep in the lodge. Before getting a dark visit Annapurna conservation regional office where get more information about local and conservation area.

Upon leaving from a lodge, follow gentle descending throughout dense cluster village till Bhujung river, see ancient water mill for on side of the path. Follows trek on rice terrace also enjoys to see the breathtaking view of a waterfall. From here a trail continues uphill also passes few houses before entering dense rhododendron forest. Steady up trail end on the ridge where can take a rest on stone rest place. This resting place is the highest elevation of your trek. On way down thru the blooming rhododendron forest get a picturesque view of the Siding village another side of the route.

Pasgaun offers great scenery of the dotted village on the hillside, after breakfast descending throughout Gurung village also walking on stone-stair route till bank of a river. Small and beautiful Bagaicha villages set on the east bank of the river where also do fishing and swimming on chill fresh water. After walking on the suspension bridge over the river, we climb up on the forest and arrive Ravi Danda. A short rest provides an amazing view of agriculture landscapes. Onward trek is fairly easy to Pakharikot, from here can get stunning mountain view on far distance of the Ghalegaun.

From Pakharikot rolling downhill on cultivate area also crossing stream few times before arriving Thumsikot. Now 3 hours' drive to Pokhara with the stunning view of Begnas Tal plus entire Annapurna mountain range above rice terrace of western Nepal. After room check-in, walking on Shore of Phew Lake also can see a reflection of snow peak on the lake.
