Cho la pass trek itinerary commences from Kathmandu then short Mountain View flight transfer to Lukla. Then gradual ascend path along the Dudh Koshi River and through the Sherpa village leads to Namche Bazar. Now trekking on alpine terrain to Gokyo valley. Then follow foot print of Yak and Yeti to Gokyo Ri (5,360 m), Ngozumpa Ri (5,750 m), and Cho Oyu base camp. Crossing the thrilling Cho la pass (5,420 m) is physically hard because of the altitude and icy trail. Indeed Cho la pass trek is harder than the Everest base camp trek but easier than Everest three passes trek. The Cho la pass provides an impressive view of the Ama Dablam, Baruntse, Taweche peak, and Cholatse Lake. A trailhead to Everest base camp became crowded compared to Gokyo valley. A side trip to Kala Patthar viewpoint (5,645 m) and Everest base camp (5,364 m) rewards massif Mount Everest view. Also can chat with Everest summiteer at Everest base camp. Daily itinerary
Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu (1,350 m/4,428 Ft)

We come to pick you up from Tribhuvan international airport. Then about a 45-minute drive transfer to your hotel. After room check-in, free time until the official meeting with your guide.
Day 02: Kathmandu - Lukla - Phakding (2,610 m/8,560 Ft)
45-Min Fight then 4 Hrs Trek B/L/D with hot drink Lodge/Guesthouse
Drive to tribhuvan international airport accrodingly flight schedule. A 45-minute Kathmandu to Lukla flight rewards a superltive view of the Himalayas and landscapes. Upon arrival Lukla, the porter settles the luggage then Cho la pass trek begins. A trailhead through the ancient sherpa village a side of Dudh Koshi river to Phakding. First day Cho la pass trek is easy that include gradual descend and gentle up. About 3-4 hours hike bring lodge. Then look-up side trek to Thaktul/Pemacholing Monastery about 2-3 hurs trek.
Day 03: Phakding - Manjo - Namche Bazar (3,440 m/11,283 Ft)

Our trail to Namche Bazar continuously passes villages and multiple vegetation zones. The gentle trail passes along the river and often crosses suspension bridges. Monju is another big village in the route and the Sagarmatha national borderline. We enter Cho la pass trek permits and trek resume then make a lunch break at Jorsalle village. We then crossed Hillary bridge and steep climb up through the pine and rhododendron forest to Namche Bazar. The walk combined lovely lush green forest to perfect view of high mountains. A trail passing Kshum Khangru peak viewpoint offers the first view of Mount Everest. Namche Bazar must-visit tourist places in Nepal and commercial junction. Good hotel, Bank, ATM, Bar, Café, handicraft, and Antique available.
Day 04: Acclimatization Day

Namche Bazar surrounded by mountains like Thamserku, Kangtega, and Kwande. A nearby villager comes down to Namche Bazar to shop for provisions and groceries. Also, the Namche weekend market is famous among the villages. All the trekkers acclimatize against high altitude by spending 2 nights. That spear day can be used to hike Everest view hotel, Khunde, Khumjung, or Thame village. Some side treks take half-day and Thame village is a full-day tour.
Day 05: Namche Bazar - Mong La - Dole (4,060 m/13,315 Ft)

Day 06: Dole - Luza - Machhermo (4,470 m/14,660 Ft)

The shortest day on our Cho la pass trek, the trail also relatively lighter than other days. Through the hike to Machhermo gentle climbing on the narrow valley. Trailhead Machhermo passes potatoes terraced and seasonal yak pasture as fewer tourists walking here high chance to see musk deer, Himalayan Tahr and Himalayan Monal en route. Few local tea houses seasonal open at Lhafarma and Luza before Machhermo village. Upon arrival, Machhermo eats lunch and keeps luggage into the room then a short hike to the nearest viewpoint for the acclimatization also visit 1974 Yeti attacked spot. On the way back to lodge visit Himalayan rescue association and get more details about altitude mountain sickness.
Day 07: Machhermo - Phang Kha - Gokyo Lake (4,790 m/15,710 Ft)

The trek commences ascending a small ridge and catches a superb view of the Kangtega peak and Gokyo valley. Then walking on the enthralling pasture to Phang Kha and spot 1995 avalanches area. Follow the stone-stair uphill path along the Dudh Koshi River to the moraine of Ngozumpa glacier. A trailhead series passing lakes Longpongo, Toache and finally reached Gokyo Lake. Series of stone cairns seen aside of the lakes and also seen the golden ducks swimming in the emerald lakes. The lodge is situated west bank of the lake and can do a side trek to Gokyo Ri, Ngozumpa Tse, Renjo La pass, and Cho Oyu base camp.
Day 08: Explore Gokyo Valley and Ngozumpa Tse (5,570 m/18,270 Ft)

Extra day in Gokyo Lake, can be use explore the Gokyo valley and stroll on the moraine of the glacier. Great to have an extra night at Gokyo lake heading before Cho la pass and Everest Base Camp. If all goes well recommend discovering north of Gokyo valley and ascending to Ngozumpa Tse (5,570 m). The summit provides an excellent view of Mount Cho Oyu and the Ngozumpa glacier. On way to Ngozumpa Ri traversing a side of Gokyo Lake 4th and 5th. It is about 7-8 hours trekking on the moraine and the pebble rock. Ngozumpa Ri and the 6th Gokyo lake day trip offer a good view of Mount Cho Oyu and the north face of Mount Everest. Also, get an expanded view of the Gokyo valley and five turquoises Gokyo lakes in a single photo. The route to Ngozumpa Ri is moderate but the altitude makes it difficult. Gentle uphill trail onto the Ngozumpa glacier passing 4th and 5th Gokyo lake. Then steep climbing up on the hill also walking on a rock near to the Ngozumpa summit. After admire the sceneries trekking back to Gokyo Lake.
Day 09: Side trek to Gokyo Peak (5,360 m/17,580 Ft), trek to Dragnag (4,700 m/15,415 Ft)

Another great day on Everest Base Camp Cho La pass trek, wake up early in the morning then side trek to Gokyo Ri (5,360 m). The Gokyo Peak laying right above Gokyo Lake, we need to climb uphill in the mountains. The distance between Gokyo Lake to Gokyo Ri is not that far but it takes roughly 2-3 hours to reach the summit. Gokyo peak is one of the famous and most spectacular viewpoints in the Everest region trek.
The travelers view four-eight thousand peaks Mount Everest, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, Makalu, and other snow peaks with together Gokyo lake. The Gokyo peak is situated above the valley and the name is written on the rock also Tibetan praying flags are flapping into the thin air. It is really worth climbing Gokyo peak that offers the best mountain view and a wider glacier valley. After having a great time on the peak returned to the lodge. Upon arrival lodge, we eat breakfast first then trailhead onto the Ngozumpa glacier to Dragnag. We have a 2-3 hours walk on the chill climate to Dragnag/Thagnak.
Day 10: Dragnag – Zonglha (4,830 m/15,845 Ft) Via Cho La Pass (5,420 m)

This is one of the longest and tough days in Gokyo Lake Everest Base Camp Trek. We eat earlier breakfast at the lodge then trailhead to Cho la pass. A trek beings with sufficient drinking water and energy bars for 8 hours trek. From the lodge follow the uphill path on the pasture till the big rock. Now the trail rhythm changes into the rocky and icy. We also come across an icy path a few meters behind the Cho La pass and recommend carrying a microspike. The Cho La Pass (5,420 M/17,777 FT) summit exposes the lovely view of both side Gokyo and Khumbu valley. After taking a picture and rest, trek resume walking aside of Cho La Glacier lake. Then steady descending on the rocky path to Zonglha hamlet on foot of Cholatse Peak. Then enjoy an awesome view of Mount Ama Dablam and Cholatse lake together.
Day 11: Zonglha to Lobuche (4,910 m/16,105 Ft) Via Awi Peak

The trek to Lobuche is quite short with 3-4 hours walking on the large pasture, throughout the walk enjoy breathless Mountain Outlook. As it is a little trek to camp, we have optional activities and it might be fit for you. Awi Peak (5,240 m) stands between Lobuche and Zonglha village, it situated basement of Lobuche Peak.
We follow the downhill trail on the pasture then after a while taking a uphill branch trail on the alpine terrain. The entire trek to Awi peak provides an excellent view of Ama Dablam, Khumbu glacier, Mount Everest, and Khumbu valley. More than 20-snow peak views from the Awi peak also meet-up with Lobuche peak climber. From the Awi peak walk down to Lobuche peak base camp and walking on flatter trail to Lobuche hamlet. We counter more tourists at Lobuche because of the road to Everest base camp.
Day 12: Lobuche to Gorak shep (5,180 m/16,990 Ft), side trek to EBC (5,364 m/17,593 Ft)

We start the trek early in the morning because of the side trek to Everest base camp. Follow an appealing tranquil path to Lobuche pass with looking gorgeous view of Pumori, Nuptse, and Cholatse. Then trekking on a rocky moraine of Khumbu glacier that offers a stunning view of the massive Khumbu glacier on foot of the high mountains. On arrival, Gorakshep room check-in then has early lunch and leave to EBC. We kick off to Everest base camp on the rocky and pebble path. On the way to Everest base camp have a beautiful view of Icefall, glacier pond, icebergs, and mountains. The Iconic Everest base camp is noticeable with Buddhist flags and sculpture rocks. Also Everest expedition tented camp settlement can see nearby the classical Everest base camp. After spending some time returning to Gorakshep in cold temperature. The travelers have to carry snacks, water, and warm cloth in an unexpected circumstances.
Day 13: Gorak shep - Kala Patthar (5,645 m/18,515 Ft), trek to Periche (4,240 m/13,907 Ft)

We wake up early in the morning then hike up to the famous viewpoint of Everest trekking Kala Patthar (5645 m). The viewpoint provides stunning Mountain View in 360º degree and striking glacier scenery. Kala Patthar viewpoint is the best place to see Mount Everest and the large Khumbu glacier. A road to Kala Patthar summit is strong climbing up on the ridge and it is covered pebble and rocks trail. After taking a picture and having a majestic mountain view turned back to Gorakshep. After breakfast, a trek retraces downhill on the moraine then passes Lobuche, Thuk la to Periche village. On way to Periche stop at Dughla pass and spot the traditional cemetery of Everest summiteer.
Day 14: Periche - Pangboche - Tengboche Monastery - Namche Bazar (3,440 m/11,283 Ft)

Today getting back to Namche Bazar, most of journey descending through alpine terrain. It is a long walk about 6-7 hrs downhill trek with exceptional sceneries. You'll be exploring the Tengboche monastery and many Buddhist stupas. We then descend to Phungi Thenga, where the Dudh Koshi Khola and Imja Khola meets. A trailhead uphill to Kyangjuma and it made a loop of the trek. Throughout the hike enjoy an awesome view of the high mountains and the Buddhist culture flavor. The best of Namche Bazar is the internet, hot shower, pubs, and bar.
Day 15: Namche Bazar - Manjo - Phakding - Lukla (2,860 m/9,380 Ft)

Last day of physical trek en route of Everest base camp Cho La pass trek. We begin trek early in the morning because we have to walk 20 km to complete the trek to reach Lukla. Straightway descends down through forest and crosses Hillary bridge on Dudh Koshi river. And have the last view of majestic mount Everest from Kshum Khangru viewpoint. We cross several suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River to Lukla. After arriving at Lukla village let your leg relax and celebrate your trip success with the crew.
Day 16: Fly back to Kathmandu (1,350 m/4,428 Ft)

Take an early flight from Lukla to Kathmandu then transfer to your hotel. The Lukla to Kathmandu flight offers good view of the mountains and landscapes. After arriving in Kathmandu, leisure time then farewell dinner in the evening. The dinner organizes at a typical Nepalese restaurant and watches live Nepalese culture show.

Lukla Flight Update
Lukla Flight Update Due to the rise of traffic crowding of Tribhuvan international airport Kathmandu. The Civil aviation association of Nepal has recently updated the Lukla flight status. In the peak trekking season (Autumn/Spring) from Kathmandu drive to Ramechap (Manthali) airport. About a 20-minute small flight transfer to Lukla airport then the journey begins.
Regards Manthali Airport: Manthali airport is approximately 140 Km from Kathmandu. It is about a 4-hour drive on the black-top road. We recommend spend the pre-flight night at Ramechhap where normal tourist lodges are available. We also have another option can drive to Manthali airport early in the morning from Kathmandu.
