Langtang valley trek, one of the short trekking and winter trek route in Nepal. Good physical level trekkers can complete Langtang valley trek from 5-10 days depends on whether add on the side treks or not. The trek can be extern to Tamang Heritage Trail, Ganja/Kangja La, Gosaikunda Lake, Helambu Circuit Trek, and Tilman Pass Trek. If you keep some extra days in your Lantang valley trek itinerary can do below side trips around Kyanjin Gompa. Also possible to summit the easiest trekking peak Yala Peak and Naya Kanga peak from Kyanjin Gompa village. Kyanjin Ri (4,773 m / 15,655 Ft) Day Trip
Kyanjin Ri, the viewpoint sits above the Kyanjin Gompa village and east of the Langtang Lirung and Kinshung glacier. It is about 2-3 hours strenuous switchback climbing from the lodge. There are two paths to reaching Kyanjin Ri, a west trail carried along the sharp ridge with passing the first summit with a big rock. The route is relatively tougher than the eastern path but the entire journey provides breathtaking mountain vista and close sights of the glaciers. The eastern route is comparatively easier with zigzag ascends on the sloppy grassy mountains. Upon arriving the summit welcomed with fantastic view of the Langtang mountain range likes Langtang Lirung (7,227 m), Yubra (6,246 m), Changbu (6,251 m), Naya Kanga (5,863 m), Kinshung (6,781 m), Dangpache (6,567 m), Shelbachum (6,707 m), Morimoto (6,150 m), Yala Peak (5,700 m) and Tsergo Ri on the north. The peak also provides a good view of the Langtang Lirung and Kinshung glacier with together the glacier lakes. If any folk has a knee problem recommend carrying knee straps for walking down.
Tsergo/Cherko Ri (4,985 m/16,385 Ft) Day Trip
Tsergo/Cherko Ri, the highest viewpoint climb without any climbing gears in Lang Valley. It is a few hundred meters higher than Kyanjin Ri that provides a view of the majestic Himalayas in 360 degrees and a long and wider alpine valley. It is a full-day trip from Kyanjin Gompa with a steady climb up on the Trans Himalayan zone. The Tsergo/Cherko Ri route covered by pebble, grit, and some snow near to the summit. Do not forget to pack windbreaker pants, jacket, gloves, sun lotion, and knee straps for going down. Also, carry sufficient drinking water and food for 5-6 hours trekking because of no human settlement beyond the Kyanjin. The Tsergo Ri viewpoint is decorated by Buddhist prayer flags and stone cairn, the huge mountain visible including Yala Peak (5,700 m), Dorothea Himal (5,749 m), Morimoto (6,150 m), Kyunggari (6,599 m), Langshisa RI (6,427 m), Ganchenpo (6,387 m), Pungen Dopku (5,930 m), Langtang Yubra (6,048 m), Kinshung (6,781 m), Chanbu (6,251 m), Langtang Lirung (7,227 m), and Naya Kanga (5,863 m), etc with stunning Langtang valley.
Upper Langtang Valley/Lamgshisa Kharka (4,285 m/14,054 Ft) Day Trip
Amazing day hike on the mountain valley, the trail along the Langtang Khola surrounding by high snowcapped mountains. The path is relatively easier than among the other side trips. The maximum trail is flat on the grassy pasture and moraine afar the human residence. Often passes seasonal yak pasture in the wilder gorge. Day trek set-off from Kyanjing Gompa with packed lunch and enough drinking water for the day. Crossing the extensive monsoon washed path then walking along the bank of the river with a passing series of a stone cairn. A path provides the finest sights of the 6000 m above peaks namely Langshisa Ri (6,427 m), Ganchenpo (6,387 m), Morimoto (6,150 m, etc with impressive meadow, the local said this wilderness valley is home of the snow leopard also regularly spot blue sheep’s. Around Langshisa Kharka is covered by moraine and glaciers. It is about 5-6 hours round trip from Kyanjin Gompa to Langshisa Kharka then return Kyanjin Gompa
Kangja/Ganja La High Camp (4,930 m/16,137 Ft)
Beautiful hike on the direction of Kangja/Ganja La pass, the challenging high altitude pass that connects Langtang and Helambu Trek. The Ganja/Kangja la passes high camp situated as high as Kyanjin Ri and offers an excellent view of the Langtang valley on the foot of the Langtang Himal range.
