Introduction


Shivalaya Everest Base Camp Trek.
Jiri Everest Base Camp Trek is the classical trekking route to the heart of Everest region which was used by the Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Edmund Hillary in their Mt. Everest expedition in 1953. It is one of the popular trekking trails in the world, which offers the combination of natural, cultural and high mountains. This trekking trail provides the opportunity to the trekkers to explore the landscape of the whole Khumbu and Everest region, green forest with rare wild animals and birds, lush valleys with the spectacular view of the giant world tallest mountains such as the fantastic vistas of the mountains like Mt. Everest (8,848M) the tallest mountain of the world,Lhotse,Nuptse, Amadablam,Pumori,Thamserku and numerous other peaks as well as the culture and tradition of the ethnic Rai and Limbu in sub-tropical and Sherpa community in alpine.
The traditional route of Everest base camp trek begins from Jiri or Shivalaya after 7/8 hours' drive from Kathmandu. While driving to Shivalaya you will be enjoyed to see the natural beauties of landscape, typical villages and fantastic Mt. vista and raft on Bhote koshi river. Once you start your walking from Jiri you are overwhelmed with the Nature's beauty as well as the untouched culture of the ethnic inhabitants. En route you pass through the terraced green farm, beautiful rhododendron and pine forest, numerous ethnic settlements, valleys with the amazing view of the mountains and surrounding landscapes. The hiking to the Kala Pattar-the perfect view point of Everest, Tengboche monastery are other remarkable features of Nepal Everest Base Camp trekking route. The best time to go for the Jiri to Everest base camp trek is from mid-March to May and September to Mid-December.

Note: The above itinerary is a guideline and standard pattern which we provide you. Trek itinerary can be modified according to your interest, time and requirements. For your information Lukla flights are notorious for being delayed to and fro Kathmandu by few hours or even cancelled for a day. Due to uncertain climate change that occurs often at Lukla, you are advised to have extra days for your stay in Nepal.

Detail Itinerary

Detail Itinerary of 22Days Everest Classical Trek.
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu 1,350M/4,428FT.
On arrival at Tribhuvan international airport, our official representative will received then H/she will  transfer you at hotel.
Overnight at hotel.

Day 02: Kathmandu Valley Tour
Today you visit different historical and cultural sites of the Kathmandu valley with our tour guide. You will be driven to different cultural and historical places in Kathmandu valley. Buddhist and Hindu temples Boudhanath, Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, which reflect the local culture and tradition of Nepalese society. Then visit Durbar Square of Patan and Kathmandu.

Day 03: Kathmandu to Shivalaya 1,900M/6,232FT- 10hrs Drive.
We take bus from Kathmandu to Shivlaya through Araniko Highway the drive continue cross the typical Newari villages of Dhulikhel and Banepa. From Dulikhel we see the breathtaking panoramic views of the north eastern Himalayas, including Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung and Dorjee Lakpa, Gauri Shanker From Dolalghat we head north following the Sunkoshi River. We finally reach Shivalaya.

Day 04: Shivalaya to Kinja 2,000M/6,560FT- 6hrs Trek.
From Shivalaya we starts our walk accent up through viilage, jungle to Deurali. Then descend on the hill passing through villages, cross the over the bridge and reaching Kinja.

Day 05: Kinja to Lamjura Danda 3,520M/11,545FT- 6hrs Trek.
Today our trek ascent through villages and dense rhododendron, fir, pine, magnolia, maple, and birch forest to Lamjura and pike peak is at the ridge.

Day 06: Lamjura to Ringmu Khola 2,200M/11,480FT- 6hrs Trek
After lamjura pass the trek continues descend through the forest to Junbesi- typical Sherpa village and visit beautiful Tibetan monastery. Then we cross the river which follows from Number himal and ascending through the yak pasture to Salung. Salung offers the fantastic views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nupte, Thamserku, Mera peak and other peaks.

Day 07: Salung to Khari Khola 2,220M/7,281FT- 5hrs Trek.
The trail descend to Ringmo Khola and see fantastic landscape of lush. Then we walk up hill passing a Ringmu then reach at ridge Trakshindo La pass. Now descending and visit the typical Tibetan monastery and resume descending to Nunthala.

Day 08: Khari Khola to Puiyan2,796M/9,170FT- 5hrs Trek.
Today also we continue descending throughout villages and forest to the Dudh Koshi River. Then we ascend up passing the villages all the and then after villages cross the bridge then ascent up on hill to ridge called Bubsa.

Day 09: Puiyan to Phakding 2,610M/8,560FT- 5hrs Trek.
We continue our walk on gradually on the ridge then descend through another ridge to Sukhe situated on a tributary of the Dudh Koshi. Crossing the tributary and go gradually up through villages to Phakding.

Day 10: Phakding to Namche Bazaar 3,440M/11,283FT- 6hrs Trek.
Phakding the trail follows the Dudh Koshi River and reaches Zamphuti. From here we can see excellent views of Thamserku peak. Then the trail climbs to Chomoa, the site of an agricultural project, an interesting place to have a look around and gain an insight into the farming way of life of these people. From Chomoa, the trail again climbs to Monjo 2840m and enters the Sagarmatha (Everest) National Park (1148sq km, established in 1976).  and after a long climb with views of Mt. Everest peeking over the ridge of Nuptse.

Day 11: Acclimatization at Namche.
Today we take rest for the proper acclimatization with some excursion. We can hike to the Everest View Hotel, the ideal place to overview some of the outstanding mountains such as Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Lhotse etc. You can walk around the Khumjung valley, Hillary School and Khunde Hospital and then return back to Namche. In Namche Bazaar you can spend some time interacting with the fun-loving Sherpa and Rai people.

Day 12: Namche to Tengboche Monastery 3,840M/12,660FT- 5hrs Trek. 
This day we leave Namche bazaar and walk for some time along the ridge and then descend to Dudh Koshi River at Phunkithanka. Then after crossing the bridge we ascend in the steep path up to the Tengboche. On reaching Tengboche you will see the local monastery. Tyanboche have largest Monastery of Khumbu region.

Day 13: Tengboche to Dingboche 4,450M/14,596FT- 5hrs Trek.
Tengboche the trail drops to Debuche, crosses another exciting suspension bridge on the Imja Khola, and climbs to Pangboche amongst thousands of Mani stones. Our uphill trek continues, taking us to the quaint traditional Sherpa village of Dingboche with its exquisite views of Lhotse, Island Peak, and Ama Dablam. We take our time so we avoid getting affected by the altitude.

Day 14: Rest day with some excursion.
Today you can enjoy another day for acclimatization. We will have trip to Chhukung valley via the Imja Khola valley to get a marvelous view of the surrounding mountains, especially Lhotse's massive south wall, then return to Dingboche in the evening.

Day 15: Dingboche to Lobuche 4,910M/16,104FT- 6hrs Trek.
Today, the trail continues along the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier and passes by stone memorials for climbers who have perished on nearby summits. We continue to climb as we are heading to the altitude of 4910 meters at Lobuche which is really just a few huts at the foot of giant Lobuche peak. Some breathing problems may arise today due to the altitude.

Day 16: Lobuche to Everest Base Camp 5,365M/17,593FT back to Gorak Shep 5,180M/16,990FT- 6hrs Trek.
This is another big and difficult day walk along the Khumbu Glacier and up to Everest Base Camp at 5365 meters, the closest you can get to Mt. Everest without mountaineering equipment. There will likely be a team there about to attempt the summit. The view of the Khumbu Icefall from Base Camp is spectacular. We return back to Gorak shep for the night.

Day 17: Hike to Kala Patthar 5,545M and back to Pheriche 4,320M/14,169FT- 7hrs Trek.
This will be one of the most difficult yet rewarding days of the trek. In the morning we climb Mt. Kala Patthar, a small peak. From Kala Patthar we can see the most magnificent mountain panorama of Everest, the highest point on the planet at 8848 meters, towers directly ahead and other giants, Nuptse, Pumori, Chagatse, Lhotse and countless others. We make a quick descent to Gorak Shep, a tiny hamlet at 5180 meters then trek down to Pheriche.

Day 18: Pheriche to Namche- 6hrs Trek. 
We retrace our route back to Tengboche via Pangboche.

Day 19: Namche to Lukla 2,860M/9,380FT- 6hrs Trek. 
We descend on the steep path to the Dudh Koshi and then climb up to Lukla. As today is the last day of the trek there will be a fare-well dinner with the trekking crew.

Day 20: Flight to Kathmandu 
Enjoying your last glimpse of the mountains you have recently visited for one last time on the 35 minute Scenic flight back to Kathmandu. On arrival in Kathmandu we are met and transferred back to our starting hotel.

Day 21: Leisure day in Kathmandu.
It's also spare day in case of bad weather in Lukla.

Day 22: Departure. 
According to your flight schedule, you will be transferred to the international airport for onward journey.
