Introduction

Poon Hill Khair Lake Trek.
Poon Hiil Khopra trek is newly opened trekking trail in Annapurna region. The trek expose beauties of nature such as a beautiful landscapes, typical villages of different ethnic groups, sparking streams, multi-colour blooming rhododendron dense forest, breath-taking high Himalayas. Walking through the dense rhododendron and pine forest is wonderful, you may encounter wild barking deer, monkey, multi-colour birds. The lake Khair barahi Lake located at foot of the Annapurna South. Along the trekking trail, you will pass three amazing view points: Poon Hill, Khopra and Mulde Hill, all of the veiwpoints give you spectacular sceneries of western Himalayas. From June to November we can continue side trip to Khair Barahi lake and Hidden lake which are stunning blue colour at bottom of Annapurna Himalayas. The trek expose culture as well, as we reaching at popular Gurung villages at Ghandrunk. we can amuse with local gurung culture and costumes.

The trek stars from Classical Ghorepani Poon Hill trekking trail of Nayapul and Bhirethati then ascending up through Burungdi river, passing a interesting unique doted villages on the hills to Ghorepani. Ghorepani is amazing view point and offers breath-taking Himalayan views and deep valley of Pokhara and Kali Gandaki. After Ghorepani trek descend through villages and short climb up on yak pasture before reaching to Khopra which is lies on base of the Annapurna ranges. Khopra is one of the best view point to see sunrise and sunset over the spectacular Mt. Dhaulagiri. Mulde hill is much higher than Poon Hill and it expose close breath-taking view of Himalayas and valley. The two weeks length Poon Hill Khailr Lake trek can be done throughtout year but we still have a best season in the year, thats are the Spring and Autumn.

Outline Itinerary.
Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu 1350m. Overnight at hotel.
Day 02: Kathmandu to Pokhara 835m- 7hrs drive or 25mnute flight. Overnight at hotel.
Day 03: Pokhara to Ulleri 2145m- 5hrs Trek. Overnight at guesthouse. 
Day 04: Ulleri to Gorepani 2780m- 5hrs Trek. Overnight at guesthouse.
Day 05: Gorepani to Swata 2800m- 5hrs Trek. Overnight at guesthouse.
Day 06: Swata to Khopra 3600m- 5hrs Trek. Overnight at guesthouse.
Day 07: Side trip to Khair Barahi Lake. Overnight at guesthouse
Day 08: Khopra to Dobato 3450m- 5hrs Trek. Overnight at guesthouse.
Day 09: Dobato to Ghandrunk 1920m- 5hrs Trek. Overnight at guesthouse.
Day 10: Ghandrunk to Pokhara- 5hrs drive. Overnight at hotel.
Day 11: Pokhara to Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel.
Day 12: Departure.

Detail Itinerary


Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu 1350m/4428ft.
On arrival at Tribhuvan International, our official representative will be received you then transfer to hotel.
Overnight at hotel.

Day 02: Kathmandu to Pokhara 835M/2,738FT- 25minute by flight or 7hrs drive.
As we leaving to Pokhara, Early morning we are taking bus and it driven on Prithi Highway. A 7hrs scenic bus drive provides you amazing view of landscapes, typical Nepalese villages, thrilling rafting on Trishuli river and just before reaching Pokhara, exceptional view of Annapurna Himalayan ranges. After check in hotel then boating at Phewa lake and drive to World Peace stupa to see sunset over the Annapurna range.

Day 03: Pokhara to Ulleri 2,145M//7,035FT- 5hrs Trek.
We have a breakfast at hotel then 45minute scenic drive start from Pokhara with exposing breathtaking view of Annapurna Himalayas and cultivate landscape. As today is first day of our trek, the first part trek start smoothly up along the Burungi river from Nayapual and passing through villages of different indigenous people. After Tikhedunga second part of trek continues with 2hrs steep up to Ulleri. As you trekking strenuous up to Ulleri, You will see glimpse of Annapurna south and cultivate landscapes with typical dotted villages on hills.

Day 04: Ulleri to Ghorepani 2,780M/9,118FT- 5hrs Trek.
Today our trekking trail leading up to Ghodepani and it start in morning after breakfast, it goes through dense Magar villages of unique house of stone roof. As trek continues, passing a teashops and lodge where you can buy soft drinks, hot drinks, snacks etc. Then our trek continues inside dense forest of blooming rhododendron, we often found monkeys, multi-colour birds, some wild deer's in the forest.

Day 05: Ghorepani – Swata 2,800M/9,184FT- 6hrs Trek.
In early morning, we trek steep-up to Poon Hill. Poon Hill is the amazing view point to see western Himalayas of Nepal and it offers superb sunrise view on Mt. Dhaulagiri with along the other mountains. Trek descend through dense forest and passing few villages and ascending to Swata.

Day 06: Swata – Khopra 3,600M/11,808FT- 5hrs Trek.
Swata offers view of beautiful landscapes and valley. After breakfast the trail leads gradual and steep-up through forest and yak pasture to Khopra. The interesting trail climbing-up and encounter the birds, yaks with great view of down valley and varieties of blooming multi flowers. Khopra is located at base of Annapurna south and one of the best view point to see Mt. Dhaulagiri. Khopra is lies on top of hill and basically it was the yak husbandry but now it became tourist spot, it occupied of some lodges.

Day 07: Side trip to Khair Barahi Lake 4,827M/15,832FT- 8hrs Trek.
Today is day of explore holy Khair Barahi lake. The Khair Barahi lake is situated at 4827MTR on right below of Annapurna south and source of lake is melt snow from Annapurna south. The lake is consider as holy lake for entire religion of Nepal. Once year in full moon occasion in August, so many Nepalese goes in holy Khair lake to take bath and blessed from deity. The lake is frozen from December to May and entire trail from Khopra to Khair lake became icy no body walked through. Holy lake only opened from June to November it takes around 8hrs for go and back. The trail to Lake provides magnificent view of Himalayas and valley.

Day 08: Khopra – Dobato 3,450M/11,316FT- 5hrs Trek.
The sunrise on the Top of the Mt. Dhaulagiri is exceptional and one of best. After breakfast the trail lead eastern through on yak pasture with splendid view of valley. We often meet yak along the way and then walked inside the rhododendron forest all the way to Dobato.

Day 09: Dobato – Ghandrunk 1,920M/6,297FT- 5hrs Trek.
We have a 30minute wallk to Mulde Hill. It is a best viewpoint among the other viewpoint in Annapurna region to see western Himalayas in Nepal. It offers more than 25 Himalayas in panaromic view with valley. Then after breakfast trek start, descend through the dense forest and passing few lodge in middle of forest. Finally the trail meet classical trail of Ghorapani Ghandrunk and Annapurna Base Camp at Tadapani. Then trail continues on Ghorepani Ghandruk trail through the forest passing Bhaisi Kharka and we often meet monkeys here. Finally we arrive at Ghandrunk a traditional gurung villages of cluster houses. We can entertained our evening with local people by singing and dancing in Nepalese rhythm of local musical.

Day 10: Ghandrunk – Pokhara – 1hrs Trek and 3hrs Drive.
We have an hours trek to Kyumi and then scenic drive to Pokhara. We have off-beaten drive from Kyumi to Nayapul then smooth drive continues to Pokhara. As today is the last day of the trek there will be a fare-well dinner with the trekking crew.

Day 11: Pokhara – Kathmandu 7hrs drive.
We departure early morning from Pokhara and drive reverse of as we driven from Kathmandu to Pokhara.
Overnight at hotel.

Day 12: Departure.
According to your international flight schedule, You will be transferred you to the international airport.

 Imodium or Pepto Bismo capsules for upset stomach or diarrheal.
 Diamox(commonly prescribed as Acetazolamide) 125 or 250mg tablets for altitude sickness. Please talk to with trek leader before taking medicine.
 1Small personal sized first-aid kit with blister treatments such as mole skin, band aides. 
 anti-infection ointments, etc. 
 Your guides will have more extensive medical gear, but you should have the basics for general use.
